I have been in show dogs since the mid 1970's, but it was not until the early 1980's when I acquired my first Skye Terrier bitch that I really found the breed that would become the beginning of Traeloch. For 10 years I bred and exhibited my Skyes many of whom became top Group winning dogs and went on to produce Best In Show get.
During this time I also began handling for others and in the late 80's began working with several professional handlers. It was after this experience that I also went professional and have handled many lovely dogs of different breeds to their championships and had campaigned a few to be top show dogs of their day.
By the middle of the 1990's I had to take a short leave from the show ring for family obligations. By 1996 I was champing at the bit to get back in the ring and some friends of mine asked me to start handling their golden retrievers. As it always does, one thing lead to another and I was introduced to Kay Gosling of Gosling Golden Retrievers and became her handler. After my association with Kay and the breed for a couple years I became totally enthralled with goldens and was given the opportunity to co-own one of her puppy bitches , Ch. Gosling's I'll Do It My Way. I finished Frankie at 14 months of age with 2 BISS wins and several Best of Breeds from the classes to her credit. She has since gone on to become #3 bitch in the breed for the year 2001.
I now have several young goldens of my own, including Frankie, here at Traeloch where soundness, structure, type & temperament, along with health, are paramount in our breeding program. I also
still handle professionally for golden retrievers and occasionally all breed.
